THAI STREET FOOD

Sawasdee ka! Everybody! How are you? Well, the first question you might have is probably: How do you pronounce it? Or what does it mean? "Khun Mae" actually means "Mother" in Thai and it’s - Koon - Mae . Since I’ve learned so much from her—recipes, dishes, skills, techniques, and more—I thought, why not name our small business to honour my mom and share those dishes with you !

We make sure all our ingredients are always fresh and sustainably farmed. Our packaging is eco-friendly, biodegradable, or recyclable!

Our food truck is our baby. We bought it as an old, greasy burger van and refurbished it ourselves. We literally designed both the interior and exterior, and it turned out GREAT! this was 2024 towards 2025 era , we trailing …

and 2026 , we’re rolling !

I’m Cream — born in the South, but very much Bangkok-raised. Hospitality has always been part of who I am. I grew up surrounded by my mum’s cooking, her recipes, her quiet magic in the kitchen. Food, for me, has never just been food — it’s memory, love, and a little bit of chaos when the seasoning isn’t quite right.

I fell in love with an Englishman called Carl (yes, I know… very international of me). Somewhere between cultures, flavours, and a lot of laughter, we decided to share my mum’s recipes through Khunmae. It felt like the most natural thing in the world — bringing a piece of my home to everyone else’s table.

Carl is a forester boy. By day, usually a Sparky . By night, he turns into a server — charming, polite, and full of that dry English humour. He loves a good bit of banter, the kind that makes you roll your eyes but laugh anyway. I suppose that’s part of the package when you fall for an Englishman.

And then there’s Steve — Carl’s dad. Cooking is his true passion. He’s the steady backbone of Khunmae, always there, always supporting, usually claiming something just needs “a proper roast” to fix it. He might pretend he’s not the most important one… but we all know the truth.

Lastly, I couldn’t do any of this without our part-time team — who aren’t just staff, they’re my friends. They jump in when things get hectic, they laugh with us, and they bring their own energy into the kitchen. We work hard together, we tease each other, and somehow we always get through the busy days as a team.

Together, we mix Southern roots, Bangkok energy, family recipes, love, and a generous sprinkle of English humour into everything we do.

And that’s the real story behind the flavour. x
